For those of you that haven’t heard :: Bea Arthur becomes a mother to Larry David
It’s a casting choice made in TV heaven, as the inimitable Beatrice Arthur reveals she’ll be going in next week to play Larry David’s mother on a future installment of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
What, you say Larry’s mother died in season three of the HBO hit? Well, you’re right, but why should that stop them?
“I’m doing a dream sequence. I’m just thrilled to do that show. I can’t wait,” says the Broadway great, whose TV contributions include “Maude” and “The Golden Girls” — the latter of which gets its second-season DVD release today. She notes, “There are so few shows I really watch. I love ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm,’ and other than that it’s news or old movies.”
Also, Amazon is now taking pre-orders for Golden Girls season 3 at a nice price point. Reserver your copy to day via the link to the right!
Speaking of which, According to Rue McClanahan, the DVD of the third season of “The Golden Girls” is being released in November (22nd). Because Rue is currently appearing in Broadway’s “Wicked” (and can’t get away for a few months), Bea and Betty White are due to fly to NYC for a signing.
Bea Arthur will be part of the 25th anniversary of PETA on September 10th. The gala and humanitarian awards show will be at the Paramount Pictures in Hollywood on that Saturday. Save your pennies though, these gala events usually cost a pretty penny, starting at $500 a chair. For more information visit :: www.peta25.com/gala-faq.asp
Just in :: Bea Arthur, Just Between Friends at the Egg, Albany, NY July 23, 2005 @ 8pm, has been canceled due to a scheduling conflicting.
I’ve made a lot more progress then I imagined! Welcome to the new ‘news’ section. I have basically converted the news page to a blog format. Why? Many reasons… you can now subscribe to this news section and get all of the Bea news delivered to your RSS aggregator. Also, this will make it 100 times easier for me to do updates to the news, so I won’t be so behind anymore! More importantly, if you want to comment on the news that is posted, you can very easily, by clicking the ‘comments’ link below. How wonderful! The only problem is, I wish I did this four years ago, rather then now. But, never late then never, right! Also available, is the ability to breeze through the news via the archives and search feature, as well!
Currently, I have reposted this years news into this new format, but over the next few days, possibly weeks, I will repost all the news from the past five years. It’s quite time consuming to do this, but it will be worth it in the long run, so your patients is appreciated! In the meantime, you can visit the archives by clicking over on the right hand column, under ‘links’.
I want to also make this new news service more able to be controlled by Bea’s fans and not only me! So, if you feel that you would be a worthy candidate, email me and we can discuss your involvement and then set you up with an account so you can post to the news. In the past there has been a couple of people who really stepped up to the plate, they know who they are, and are welcome to join me here now!
In the future, I may even do some podcasts and/or even videoblogs for this section, so be sure to check out those. I love playing around with new technology, so I might as well use what is available to us and have fun with it!
Let me know what you think of this new format by commenting below! Also, if you want to check out what I have been doing to my own blog with video and podcasts, click HERE! Until next time…
Summer is here and that means one thing… things are going to get a little slow here. Not that Bea is slowing down, but I am. I’m going to try to make updates to the site twice a month, but more if I am able or if there is something major going on. Same goes with emails. I always try to reply to ever email sent, but don’t be surprised if it is a delayed response. Thanks! So, that being said, more dates have been updated/changed/added to the tour information page. Bea’s even going to be in the Chicago area again in October, but as of right now, I am not planning on attending. However, Bea is always welcome to come over for a cup of coffee at my house :) So, we’ll see when the time gets closer. Also, time permitting, I will be doing something wonderful to this news section to benefit both myself and you! That’s all I have to say about that for now :) Hope you are all having a good summer! I make good coffee, Bea :)
p.s. As always I want to thank Ironicwit and Alex for providing such good information!
Slow down Bea! I am so behind, so let’s catch up now! Here we go :: More shows have been added to Bea’s schedule! Check them out at the ever famous tour information page. Bea is going to be part of Garrison Keillor’s 30th Anniversary next year during her February 24 & 26 performances in 2006. That should be exciting, I always enjoy his shows (usually on NPR). More information on Bea’s show on DVD, it will be taped live during her September, El Portal Theatre performance. Exact date still has not been announced. Finally, a new fan photo has been added to the Fan Photos page. I know this page needs some reorganization, but I will get to that later, I just wanted to be sure to get him up there! So thanks to Debbie, Alex and Russell for the information on Bea’s shows! Hopefully, I won’t get so behind again! Now, I have a bunch of your emails to answer back to, thanks for your patience! Till next time…
3 more shows have been added to Bea’s nonstop schedule! Visit the tour information page for more information. Thanks to Alex in Italy for the 411 :)
…more Bea, right now! We have another show added for 2006! To learn more about the April show in Ohio, visit the tour information page. Also, another reminder that Bea will be on TV again soon! For people with HBO and/or are fans of the show Curb Your Enthusiasm, Bea will be guest starring on a episode where she will be in a dream sequence as the character of Larry’s mother. Be sure to watch listings for this show to air sometime in the near future! Finally, the best news of all… Bea’s one woman show will be on DVD, confirmed by Bea herself! I’m confused if the show has already been taped or not, for it is from the North Hollywood’s El Portal Center for the Performing Arts, which she did a performance at last year in August. So, I am guessing it is from that performance, or perhaps there will be yet another showing there were the DVD footage will be recorded. Nevertheless, it is coming! You bet that you’ll find out all the information about this release, as soon as, we learn more. So stay tuned, as no dates have been set as of yet! That’s all for now! I hope you are enjoying the second season of the Golden Girls that was released last week! If not, click on the box to the right to place your order today!
Happy 82nd Birthday Bea! and happy Friday the 13th to all the rest of you :)
More multiple Bea news to speak of, so here we go :: First, Bea was a great success as the diva of ceremonies for the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in Miami which ran from April 22 – May 1 of this year. Second, Bea and Billy have booked two shows in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on February 24 and 25, 2006! Finally, on June 1 on TV Land, a programmed called ‘Tickled Pink” will be airing a show celebrating television personalities and characters that gay viewers have either gravitated towards or closely identified with. Bea’s depiction of both Maude and Dorothy will be covered, so be sure to check it out! One more thing! Jason Keller whote a article titled ‘The Bea all end all‘. A great reading with a synopsis of Bea’s career and accomplishments! That’s all for now! Have a great Mother’s Day weekend! Don’t for get Bea turns 82 on the 13th of this month!!
