More multiple Bea news to speak of, so here we go :: First, Bea was a great success as the diva of ceremonies for the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival in Miami which ran from April 22 – May 1 of this year. Though I am happy with my experiences with Bea, I really would have loved to been to this event, for I also love the gay film festivals. Second, Bea and Billy have booked two shows in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on February 24 and 25, 2006! Finally, on June 1 on TV Land, a programmed called ‘Tickled Pink” will be airing a show celebrating television personalities and characters that gay viewers have either gravitated towards or closely identified with. Bea’s depiction of both Maude and Dorothy will be covered, so be sure to check it out! One more thing! Jason Keller whote a article titled ‘The Bea all end all‘. A great reading with a synopsis of Bea’s career and accomplishments! That’s all for now! Have a great Mother’s Day weekend! Don’t for get Bea turns 82 on the 13th of this month!!
A few tidbits of Bea related news. First, the great people who are putting on the show, Judy & Bea, in NYC have extended there run and are then moving on to Province town for five weeks. In addition, the producers of the show would like to offer a 1/2 off cover charge to visitors of BeatriceArthur.com! Click HERE to read more, you lucky people! Also, one of the fans that I met at the April 19th show sent me some fun photos of the show with a great perspective! I have placed them into the fan photos section. Thanks Steve!
Also, thanks to a fan, Ironicwit, in the Yahoo Group, two new articles mention that Bea is planning on appearing in a episode of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ and a new show has been announced for October 8, in Salem, Oregon!
Still no stopping Bea!
Just got off the train, back from Mount Pleasant, Michigan after seeing Bea’s show again yesterday. Had a great time seeing the show and comparing the changes since last seeing the show. Also, had an unexpected and flattering time meeting other Bea fans before and after the performance that have visited this web site previous to the show. Finally, after a month’s worth of work, I had a fantastic couple of moments with Bea, backstage, that was also shared with a college friend of mine who I haven’t seen in years. I couldn’t have asked for a better time with everyone and owe it to a couple of key people, Dan, Zack and Bea! To read more about my experience and photos from the show, view the ‘personal experiences‘ section of this site! Also, if you attended the show, be sure to email me with your own experience of the show and any photos you might have taken. I would love to add your stories to the ‘what people are saying’ section, as well, if requested!
I just wanted to write a quick post, being that I will be busy for the next few days and away from the internet. I’m starting to feel the excitement creep back to me, as after four years, I will be seeing Bea’s show again! You bet I will be taking notes! I’m really interested to see how the show has changed over the past four years from it’s origin. Also, interested in how it hasn’t changed. So be sure to check back here a couple days after the 19th, when I get back into Chicago and can settle down and write up my new experiences in seeing a old ‘friend’. If any of you are going to the show, be sure to let me know and email me your experience of the show too! Ok, I’m off (literally!)
Bea’s show in West Palm Beach that was postponed from this March has been rescheduled to November of this year! For more information, ticket purchase, refund/exchange information, please visit the ‘tour information‘, today!
Though Bea’s Florida shows were postponed, a reporter, who never got his interivew with Bea printed, is still generous enough to share it with us on his blog. Click HERE to take a peak at it! Also, exciting news for Bea and for people who thought she wouldn’t go to Florida because she wouldn’t fly, Bea will be the Diva of Ceremonies for the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival April 22nd in Miami, Florida! To learn more about this event, click HERE!
I have added a new fan review on the ‘what people are
saying‘ page from John in Boston. At the same time I have reworked the section so that the stories are from newest to oldest order. I’m hoping to get more stories from you guys, so please email me with them and I’ll be happy to post them on here to share with all of Bea’s fans!
So far, so good for Bea in Nyack, New York last night. I received a few emails from fans who attended Friday’s show and according to them all, Bea has not lost a step in her show since first starting in 2001! Even more exciting is that two fans have emailed me with some images to share with everyone. Special thanks to Paul, for sending photos he took during the show and David for sending me a photo of the marquee and scans of the program from the show! We can all live vicariously through you two, so I’m sure that I can speak for other fans, saying thank you!
Questioning Bea’s PR people, there have been more shows popping up here and there that have been reported to me from other Bea fans. I am currently finding it hard to keep up with it all. I would hate this site to turn into a rumor mill versus dead on factual, as I try to keep it. That being said, we have reports of two new shows, one in Texas (which I need to verify before adding it officially) (please do not email me for more information, I do not have it) and a confirmed show in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Also reported from the Miami Harold is that the Bea’s Florida shows have been postponed until December, however ticket sales are still live on Ticketmaster. Either way, I don’t have definite answers yet, so please be patient on this news. [EDIT :: from Sun Sentinel :: Bea Arthur’s one-woman show originally scheduled Thursday through March 13 at West Palm Beach’s Carefree Theatre has been postponed until December (times and dates to be announced). She still is set to receive a lifetime achievement award at a March 19 fund-raiser at the Coconut Grove Playhouse.] Thank you Ironicwit.
In the meantime, I’m eagerly awaiting to hear from fans who are attending Bea’s show in Nyack, NY tonight, tomorrow and Sunday!
Finally, I appreciate some extra patience from the past month and into this next month, for I have some personal stuff going on that is interfering with my being able to be on top of all of these changes. I will continue to post information as I learn it as soon as possible, it just may be a day or two late. I ask you not email me for additional information, for I always post all the information I know on this page and the tour information page. Thank you for your patience!
Yes, that is right, more good news! Bea has added a show in April and it is in a very special place to me. She will be having a show in the same town where I went to college, Mount Pleasant, Michigan! Mount Pleasant is a small town, but it has two big venues. Central Michigan University and Soaring Eagle Casino, which was built while I attended CMU. Bea will have one show at 4pm on April 19, 2005 at the casino. If you live in Michigan, there is no reason not to attend for ticket prices are only between $10 and $25. Now, I know I said that ‘I will definitely be there’ before and then couldn’t make it at the end. However, this time I have already purchased two tickets, so now all I have to do is figure out the rest. Odds are, I will definitely be there since I have already obligated myself financially. I can also visit some old CMU friends that never left, as well as, run up north to visit family! I’m very excited! To learn more about this event and purchase tickets, visit StarTicketsPlus.com. Though, Billy Goldenberg isn’t listed on the site, I assume that he will be there too, unless this is a completely different formatted show. Hopefully I will get more information soon on this. Also, drop me a note and let me know if you plan on attending! Thanks Zach for the good news!
