   Saddened… by her having to suffer for so long and that she passed…

   I’m glad to have enjoyed her talent on the GOLDEN GIRLS and other movies…but wish that I could of seen her in plays…..

   I will miss her alot. I watched the golden girls all the time. Every morning i get up and i turn the golden girls on. Sophia was my favorite character. She could always make me laugh. She was one of a kind. Estelle i know that you are up in heaven right now making everybody laugh.

   I saw Estelle Getty in “Torch Song Trilogy” on Broadway in the ’80s; she really made the play. She didn’t appear until the second act, but when she did, she literally took over. She was a dynamo and very funny. Estelle Getty was a wonderful person. I loved her saying that her favorite sound was the sound of human laughter. What a lovely lady.

   (I’m glad Betty made a statement. (makes me appreciate the three women all the more).

   I was bothered by the media’s reports but curious…. (Seemed ironic that all three couldn’t attend, but makes sense from her point of view since their situation is different from that of a private’s person. Also ironic, that after Bea’s son’s marriage prevented her from going there were posts here about Bea’s health. It is a shame the tabloids headlines misinform and then in the small print give facts of the date of death and quick Jewish funeral that would make it difficult to attend from NY.

   Betty White has defended her decision not to attend Estelle Getty’s funeral, insisting her former Golden Girls co-star would not have wanted her there.

   White and castmates Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan were accused by the media of disrespecting the late actress after they failed to attend her private memorial service last month.

   But White, 86, is adamant Getty would have been furious if her co-stars had turned up at the ceremony – because they would have attracted even further tabloid coverage.

   White explains, “We were with Estelle when it mattered. I didn’t go to her funeral and Paul, her wonderful caretaker, knew I wasn’t going to her funeral.

   “Funerals are about (the media) – who was there and who wasn’t? That’s not about Estelle. We adored her. To tell you the truth, her passing is tough on us, but it’s a blessing for her. She’s been so ill for so long, she’s in a better place now, wherever she is.”

   Getty died at her Los Angeles, California, home from Lewy Body Dementia, a progressive brain disease.
