“The date for Bea Arthur’s memorial has finally been set. The show will take place at the Majestic Theater in New York on Monday, September 14, 2009, at 1 pm. The afternoon will be hosted by Bea’s Bosom Buddy, Angela Lansbury who will be joined by Bea’s close friends, both professional and personal, as well as family.

The program will be a celebration of Bea’s life and career. All are invited and admission is free. Further information on the event is expected to follow shortly.”

    That great booming voice that always commanded attention, quick & hilarious wit now gone, watching the Golden Girls episodes is not the same since you left us to become and Golden Angel. Thanks for all the laughs, tears, anger you inspired. Thanks for tackling the tough subjects when it was risky. Thanks for the autographed picture that adorns my wall. Thank you for being a friend. You are so missed and loved.

    How wonderful that a memorial will be held for Bea Arthur in New York City! What a fitting gesture for such a magnificent woman of the theatre. I hope that I will be able to attend.
